Description
Maria Simona’s Peanut Turrón is made according to the traditional recipe.

Roasted peanuts 38%, sugar, glucose syrup, honey, wafers (potato starch and sunflower oil) and egg white. May contain traces of almonds, hazelnuts and sesame.
This product does not contain gluten, so it is suitable for coeliacs.
Shelf life : 9 months minimum
Keep it fresh ! Once opened, store in a cool, dry, dark and odour-free place, either in its original packaging or wrapped in foil or film and then in an airtight container. It is a common mistake to keep nougat in the fridge, which only spoils its organoleptic properties as well as its aroma and texture.
The history of the“Cacau” of Valencia
Originally from America, historical records seem to indicate that the peanut was introduced into Europe in Valencia. The“cacau“, as it is called in Valencia, appeared in the region by Don Francisco Fabián y Tuero, archbishop of the diocese of Valencia. This history occurred in the mid-18th century, but it was not until the beginning of the following century that the peanut began to be used as an ingredient, beyond its individual consumption.
The hectares of the region devoted to this crop have decreased significantly during the 20th century. Indeed, this sharp decline is explained by a massive increase in the import of the nut. Although Spain now produces less than 200 tons of peanuts each year, which is far from the millions of tons produced in countries like China and India, Valencia’s peanuts are considered to be of high quality.
It is therefore not surprising that Valencia has been one of the leaders in the production of peanut turron.
