Every year, they attract thousands of visitors who come to experience the excitement and conviviality of this unique celebration. Held at the end of July or the beginning of August, they begin each year on the Wednesday before the first weekend of the month. They end on the following Sunday. This period is a real immersion in Basque culture, where music, dance, gastronomy and traditions mingle in an explosion of joy.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-origine-des-fetes-de-bayonne-un-heritage-basque\"><strong>The origins of the F\u00eates de Bayonne: A Basque heritage<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The F\u00eates de Bayonne, founded in 1932, were inspired by the famous <strong>F\u00eates de Pampelune<\/strong>. A group of friends, mainly from the rugby section of the Aviron Bayonnais, wanted to offer a celebration of the July 14th national holiday inspired by the festive atmosphere of the events in Pamplona. These friends had participated in these festivities for several years. Then they wanted to recreate this unique atmosphere, with the same fervor and spirit of conviviality, but in Bayonne. And so was born this tradition, now firmly anchored in the Basque calendar.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-les-couleurs-des-fetes-de-bayonne-un-symbole-d-unite\"><strong>The Colours of the F\u00eates de Bayonne: A Symbol of Unity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>One of the most striking aspects of the <strong>F\u00eates de Bayonne<\/strong> is undoubtedly the emblematic colors that punctuate the whole city during this period: <strong>red<\/strong> and <strong>white<\/strong>. The traditional attire for the festivities consists of a white ensemble, enhanced by a red sash and scarf. Initially, the official colors were blue and white, symbolizing the workers&#8217; labor. However, red soon took blue&#8217;s place. Today, it&#8217;s this combination of red and white that characterizes the event. A proportion of the population continue to wear blue, a reminder of the origins of this unmissable festival.     <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-des-festivites-diversifiees-une-feria-basque-unique\"><strong>Diversified Festivities : A unique Feria Basque<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>The <strong>F\u00eates de Bayonne<\/strong> is much more than just an event, it&#8217;s a true <strong>Basque feria<\/strong>. The city&#8217;s streets come alive with <strong>spectacular fireworks<\/strong> displays, <strong>bandas<\/strong> playing festive tunes, <strong>balls<\/strong> and open-air concerts. Traditional <strong>bullfights<\/strong> and cow races are highlights of the celebrations. The famous <strong>fire bulls<\/strong> (toros de fuego) add a unique touch. <strong>Float parades<\/strong> add to the magic of the event.
