Hendaye: Green and dynamic, with a strong character, the Basque coast is a breath of fresh air. Situated in an exceptional setting, Hendaye is a commune in the French Basque Country, at the south-western tip of France and the last coastal town before Spain. It is in fact a very old fishing port, and the third largest yachting harbor in Aquitaine. <\/p>\n\n
The\nseaside resort of Hendaye offers visitors over 3 kilometers of\nfine sand beach, the longest on the Basque coast. It is surrounded by the\npeaks of La Rhune, Les Trois Couronnes and Jaizquibel. <\/p>\n\n
From Socoa to the\nentrance to Hendaye, the route offers the most beautiful panorama of the wild and authentic\nAtlantic coastline, and what’s more, it’s only a short walk away. There are\nkilometers of coastal hiking from Bidart to Hendaye,\ndotted with directional signs and interpretation stations\n. The Corniche route is also home to the neo-Gothic\nch\u00e2teau d’Abbadia and the\nestate of the same name. \n<\/p>\n\n
Don’t forget to\ntake a short stroll to Biriatou, a small village just\nfrom Hendaye with freely accessible paths and trails. From the\nsummit of Choldokogaina, you’ll have a superb view of the\nLandaise coast, the Rhune and even San S\u00e9bastian. From the church of\nBiriatou, head east towards the Perdrix rock and then the\ncol d’Osin, then back down towards the Lizarlan path to\nruisseau de la lancette. \n<\/p>\n\n
A trip to Hendaye\nwouldn’t be complete without a ride on the little train. At\ndiscover the town of Hendaye and its heritage, the little\ntrain runs from April to the end of the All Saints’ vacation period. A\ncircuit of around 30 minutes is a good way to discover the town.\ntakes you from the beach to the town via the port through\n, a very pleasant tour offered in four languages. <\/p>\n\n
With its two bodies\nof water, the Bay of Txingudi and the Atlantic Ocean, Hendaye\noffers a wide range of water sports activities. This famous bay is\na protected natural site, a resting place for migratory birds\nand seabirds, and a paradise for budding surfers\n. \n<\/p>\n\n
At the end of\nmore than 3 kilometers of beach, two large rocks\ncalled “les jumeaux” (the twins) appear. They are located in the sea, visible\nfrom Hondarribia and from the top of the Abbadia estate.\nOften depicted in images of the Basque coast, these two\nemblematic pink limestone rocks are the natural witnesses of\nmarine erosion. They are the symbols of Hendaye and are\naccessible all year round. \n<\/p>\n\n
