If you love this fruit, we invite you to find out a little more about its history and current news!   <\/p>\n\n<p>We\nhave put together an introductory article on the\nBasque Country cherry to provide you with all the information you\nneed on these delicious black cherries.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Discover the Basque Country Black Cherry<\/h2>\n\n<p>The\nBasque Country cherry is grown in a very specific area:\nItxassou. Its cultivation goes back a very long way, and it provided\nfood for many households in the region for many years. The\nblack cherry, for example, could produce up to 300 tons\nper year.  <\/p>\n\n<p>There are\nthree varieties of cherry in this region, and\nwe strongly advise you to discover them.<\/p>\n\n<p>Every\nyear, cherries take center stage in Itxassou during the\nsummer season. In fact, the cherry has a festival all its own!\nThis year, the cherry festival will take place on June 2 in Itxassou.\nIt&#8217;s a not-to-be-missed event for all\nBasque cherry growers in the region. <\/p>\n\n<p>This\nday gives you the opportunity to discover cherries and their jams, and to\ntake part in a wide range of activities, including a game of\npelote, a lively meal, dancing and more. Of course, you won&#8217;t\nleave this festival without buying some cherries and\nproducts! <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A successful cherry<\/h2>\n\n<p>This\nBasque cherry has been a great success for many years\nand it&#8217;s not about to stop! You can\ndiscover 3 different types of cherries in the\nregion. <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\n  The Peloa cherry: this fruit ripens at the end of May and its special feature\n is its delicious sweet taste. It is very\n often used for jam. \n\t<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  The Xapata cherry is yellow-orange in color and has a slightly tart\n taste, making it very pleasant to eat.\n\t<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\n  The Beltza cherry: this variety is black in color and its\n Basque name says it all!
